Binance founder describes Ledger hack as movie-like tactic
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao stated that the recent hack involving Ledger utilized a tactic reminiscent of a movie. He characterized the incident as both absurd and serious, noting that hackers allegedly acquired a reseller company and had it sign a nondisclosure agreement to maintain secrecy. Zhao emphasized that the case raises various legal and ethical concerns. Footage revealing the Ledger theft method, which resulted in losses exceeding 80000000 dollars, was previously made public. A Malaysian store, listed for years as an official Ledger-certified reseller, sold devices with spy chips inserted. The hackers inserted these chips into all wallets, which were then repackaged and shipped to victims, enabling the attackers to steal private keys.
