U.S. M2 Money Supply Increased by 5.41% to $23.22 Trillion in July
The seasonally adjusted M2 money supply in the United States for July 2026 was $23.22 trillion, representing a year-on-year increase of 5.41%, the fastest growth rate since mid-2022. This increase may make it more challenging for the Federal Reserve to bring inflation down to its 2% target. M2 is a broad measure of the money supply that includes cash in circulation, demand deposits (the M1 component), as well as small denomination time deposits and retail money market funds, which are more liquid assets. The seasonally adjusted M2 is constructed by summing the seasonally adjusted components.
