Samsung Electronics Records Operating Profit of 89.4924 Trillion Won in Q2
Samsung Electronics achieved its highest-ever performance in the second quarter, recording consolidated sales of 171.4995 trillion won and an operating profit of 89.4924 trillion won. Sales increased by 130% compared to the same period last year, while operating profit surged by 1814%. However, the stock price showed a decline of around 1% in early trading. The improvement in performance was driven by the AI memory business, with the semiconductor division recording sales of 127.5 trillion won and operating profit of 89.2 trillion won. Samsung Electronics has ramped up sales of DRAM and NAND to meet the demand for AI servers and has expanded HBM4 sales. Although AI investments are expected to continue in the second half of the year, the market is turning its attention to the next quarter. This morning, the stock price appeared to reflect the already announced preliminary results, and investors are adopting a wait-and-see approach to confirm the sustainability of AI memory demand and the expansion of supply from client companies. While foreign media have positively assessed Samsung's performance, they noted that interest is focused on future AI growth trends.
