Lee Jae-myung to Take Measures to Normalize Stock Market
South Korean President Lee Jae-myung stated on the 19th that in response to the recent decline in the stock market, which has led to a significant depreciation in the domestic stocks held by the National Pension Service, the government is assessing policy measures to normalize the stock market. He will listen to a comprehensive report and take necessary actions. Lee pointed out that after a significant rise in stock prices, adjustments are inevitable, but the extent of the adjustments cannot be predicted. He emphasized that the government currently finds it difficult to directly intervene in the financial market, and such intervention is undesirable. He believes that the South Korean stock market is severely undervalued, and the negative perception of transparency and fairness in the market is one of the main reasons. Lee stated that the government will closely monitor market trends and emphasized the need to reduce the number of investors who are trapped in their investments.
