ENS Labs proposes halting new .eth registrations on ENSv1 for ENSv2 rollout
ENS Labs has proposed to halt new .eth domain registrations on ENSv1 as it introduces ENSv2 on the Ethereum mainnet. If approved, new domains would only be registered on ENSv2, while existing ENSv1 domains can continue to be renewed without migration. Expired domains would need to be re-registered on ENSv2. ENS Labs plans to reflect ownership data for existing domains in ENSv2 and transfer all administrative authority to ENS DAO after the service launches. ENSv2 features improved subdomain management and permission settings, with a post-expiration renewal grace period of 28 days, compared to ENSv1’s 90 days. The proposal requires approval through an ENS DAO vote to take effect.
