Centralized Crypto Exchange Daily Trading Volume Doubles to $37 Billion in Five Days
The trading volume of centralized crypto exchanges (CEX) has doubled within five days, reaching over $37 billion, still below the peak of $105 billion on October 10, 2025. So far in August, CEX trading volume stands at $49 billion, down from $67 billion in July. The report indicates that the rise of spot ETFs and digital asset treasury may be a drag on CEX trading volume, but demand for altcoins will continue to flow to CEX due to advantages in listing speed, trading pair depth, and tools for small and mid-cap tokens. Bitcoin and Ethereum surged over 23% and 30% respectively last week, while the market capitalization of altcoins (excluding BTC and ETH) rose by about 13% during the same period. The popularity of decentralized exchanges (DEX) like Hyperliquid and Lighter is also diverting CEX trading volume.
