Bitcoin has shown a correlation with the U.S. political calendar, as analyzed by Alphractal founder Joao Wedson. BTC has historically entered a bear market approximately one year before U.S. midterm elections, transitioning into a long-term bull market shortly after presidential elections. Cycle bottoms have typically formed just before or after midterm elections, while peaks are reached shortly after the inauguration of the winning candidate. Binance Research found that BTC averaged a 56% decline during U.S. midterm election periods but rebounded with an average increase of 54% in the year following the elections, indicating recovery after political uncertainty. Wedson noted that despite recent recovery, it is premature to declare a market upturn, as confirmation of market capitulation, deleveraging, and new capital inflows is still needed.
