Ukraine Will Need $67.4 Billion in International Aid by 2029
Ukraine will require an additional $67.4 billion in international financial assistance from 2027 to 2029 due to the postponement of the end of hostilities to the second half of 2027. This will increase the country's defense spending. Analysts predict that a reduction in military expenditures will not be possible until at least 2028. In 2027, security and defense spending will exceed the preliminary forecast by $43 billion. Support programs such as the Ukraine Facility and the ERA mechanism will be exhausted by the end of 2027. In 2028-2029, there will be a significant deficit in the state budget that the new Ukraine Support Loan program of €90 billion will not be able to cover. Experts warn that the lack of the necessary $67.4 billion from partners threatens Ukraine's defense capability and macroeconomic stability, which could lead to monetary emission and high inflation, as well as underfunding of post-war recovery. Earlier, the EU allocated €920 million to Ukraine for the restoration of energy infrastructure facilities.
