Short Selling Balance in South Korea Reaches 19 Trillion Won, Up 14%

Prefer us on GoogleAs of this Tuesday, the outstanding short selling balance in the South Korean stock market is approximately 19 trillion won (about 13.4 billion USD), an increase of 2.27 trillion won from the end of last month’s 16.73 trillion won, marking a 14% rise. At the end of February this year, the short selling balance was 15 trillion won, which dropped to 12 trillion won in early March and rose to 23 trillion won in early June. Despite the benchmark composite stock price index in South Korea rising by 6% this month and the ChiNext index increasing by 20%, investors remain concerned about the rapid short-term gains and whether the chip industry has peaked.
