Rocket Lab Secures $397 Million Contract with U.S. Space Force

Rocket Lab has secured a $397 million contract with the U.S. Space Force for the Space-Based Adaptive Communications Node (SB-AMTI) project. Under the contract, Rocket Lab will be responsible for developing, launching, and operating multiple Flatellite satellites, which will carry space sensors and communication links to provide target detection, tracking, and data services for the U.S. Space Force. Serenity stated that this contract marks Rocket Lab's significant role in the U.S. space military system, with core value stemming from nearly $400 million in revenue and recognition of its low Earth orbit satellite constellation capabilities. The company plans to use its medium-lift rocket, Neutron, to carry out the related satellite launch missions, pushing its transformation into a comprehensive space infrastructure company. The SB-AMTI project is managed by the U.S. Space Force's Space Awareness and Targeting Division, aimed at establishing a space-based aviation threat detection and tracking system, with options included in the contract for future increases in the number of Flatellite satellites. Rocket Lab CEO Peter Beck expressed that the company is honored to participate in the SB-AMTI project, which is significant for building a layered and resilient tracking architecture for the U.S. Space Force.
