Police Seizes Crypto Wallets After Deadly Fake Pill Case
Three people have died after using fake pills sold through online shops. The websites resembled trustworthy online pharmacies and sold sleeping pills, tranquilizers, and strong painkillers to Dutch customers. The police have arrested three men and shut down dozens of online shops. Crypto wallets have also been seized, but the value and the cryptocurrencies are unknown. The suspects are a 35-year-old man from Westland, a 39-year-old man from Rotterdam, and a 66-year-old man from The Hague. They were arrested on October 20 and are suspected of managing illegal medicine websites. The pills contained nitazenes, which are much stronger than the promised oxycodone and can quickly lead to an overdose. Customers sometimes received invitations to order from new sites after previous shops were closed. The police have also disabled the servers of the online shops to complicate a quick restart. People who have purchased medications through these online shops are advised not to use them and to contact a doctor or pharmacy.
