Matt Prusak, president and interim CFO of American Bitcoin (ABTC), is leaving the company to join Giga Energy as chief business officer and interim CFO, effective Aug. 4. Prusak is shifting focus to power infrastructure, which is essential for both bitcoin mining and artificial intelligence (AI) computing. His departure highlights a trend where bitcoin miners are increasingly pivoting towards AI and energy infrastructure due to commoditization and pressure on margins. This shift allows mining companies to diversify revenue streams and capitalize on the growing demand for AI compute. Giga Energy, based in Houston, develops power equipment and AI data center infrastructure, having delivered over 6.5 gigawatts (GW) of power infrastructure and is developing more than 500 megawatts (MW) of AI-ready data center capacity. The move reflects a broader industry trend as executives and capital focus on the energy infrastructure necessary for large-scale AI and bitcoin mining.
