Lisin Sells Shipping Company After Ukrainian Drone Attacks

Russian billionaire Vladimir Lisin has sold the shipping company "Volzhskoye Parokhodstvo," which operates in the Sea of Azov, amid attacks by Ukrainian drones. The company operates bulk carriers that transport grain, metal, and coal from the Volga and Don rivers to the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea. The buyers are companies linked to the agricultural logistics group Demetra. A spokesperson for Demetra stated that the company itself did not acquire "Volzhskoye Parokhodstvo" and declined to provide further details. The company's annual cargo volume exceeds 15 million metric tons. Demetra has become a dominant player in the agricultural logistics sector, servicing grain trade with clients in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Lisin, the owner of NLMK, one of Russia's largest metallurgical plants, has dropped from third to sixth place in the ranking of the richest Russians due to a downturn in the metallurgy industry. Russia temporarily halted shipping through the Don-Black Sea Canal following attacks on 13 Russian vessels in the Sea of Azov.
