The record IPO of SpaceX in June has brought substantial returns to university endowment funds, which acquired shares in the company through venture capital. The University of California's investment office revealed this week that it holds approximately $1 billion in SpaceX shares, with the University of North Carolina and Washington University in St. Louis also holding stakes in the company.
