Education Spending in Ukraine Reached 273 Billion UAH

In the first half of 2026, 272.9 billion UAH was allocated for education funding in Ukraine, of which 151.7 billion UAH came from the state budget. The majority of the expenses were directed towards salary payments and support for school infrastructure. Specifically, 82.3 billion UAH was allocated for a 30% salary increase for educators starting January 1, 2026, benefiting over 460,000 employees. Additionally, 10.4 billion UAH was set aside for bonuses for special working conditions, 12.3 billion UAH for higher education, 5.9 billion UAH for free meals for 1.5 million students, 4.1 billion UAH for shelters in 113 schools and 18 kindergartens, 1.8 billion UAH for the "New Ukrainian School" project, 1.3 billion UAH for school buses, 0.8 billion UAH for textbooks, 0.6 billion UAH for workshop modernization, 0.5 billion UAH for kitchen repairs, and 0.3 billion UAH for supporting children with special educational needs. Nearly 8 billion UAH was allocated for scientific development, including 4.073 billion UAH for research by the National Academy of Sciences.
