Codex Users Reach 6 Million as OpenAI Lifts 5-Hour Usage Limit

The combined active users of Codex and ChatGPT Work have reached 6 million. OpenAI has temporarily lifted the 5-hour usage limit for Plus, Business, and Pro plans, and has reset the usage quota once for all users. Additionally, OpenAI is adjusting the usage calculation for GPT-5.6 Sol, with the new version expected to reduce the quota consumed for similar tasks, although the specific reduction has not yet been announced. These two adjustments will directly extend the continuous usage time for high-frequency users. The growth of Codex users has accelerated, with weekly active users just exceeding 5 million in early June, representing an increase of over 6 times since the desktop version was released in February, and the official count has now risen to 6 million.
