Bitcoin Surpasses Gold in Number of Holders in the USA

By: bithub.pl|2026/08/29 09:01:00

In the United States, 49.6 million adult Americans own Bitcoin, accounting for 18.6% of the population, compared to 28.8 million adults who own gold, or 10.8% of the population. The difference is nearly 21 million more Bitcoin holders than gold holders. The ease of purchasing Bitcoin through apps and exchanges, along with its appeal to younger investors, contributes to this advantage. Both assets have a limited supply and serve as stores of value, but Bitcoin is a digital asset while gold is a physical commodity. Despite more Americans owning Bitcoin, its market capitalization still represents about 4.2% of the value of the gold market, which is worth around $31 trillion. Gold's history as an investment asset spans thousands of years, putting Bitcoin in a challenging position in the race for market dominance.
